With a new season comes a fresh challenge for Taylor-Smith as one of the pivotal moves of the 2023 off season was the Irishman’s switch to join CarStore Power Maxed Racing, and the 33-year-old has spent recent weeks getting to grips with his new Vauxhall Astra as he prepares for a ninth year in the UK’s premier tin-top series. The fans favourite has accumulated twenty podiums during his successful career in the BTCC and to this day remains the only Irishman to win a race in the championship in over thirty years. The thirty-three year old debuted in the series in 2012 and won a race in his first season, immediately marking him as one to watch for the future. Taylor-Smith continued in the BTCC for a subsequent five years before taking a sabbatical to focus on a GT program throughout Europe.
Taylor-Smith commented: “I truly am delighted to welcome SuperCell365 into the BTCC for what looks to be a very exciting season. It was as clear as day to me that the company would be a great fit for my BTCC program after speaking with both Gary & Justine. I absolutely love getting to welcome like-minded companies into the BTCC and also integrate them into my BTCC partners network. I really am looking forward to seeing what we can achieve both on and off the track this season.”
The 2023 British Touring Car Champions kicks off in a matter of days at Donington Park for the first race weekend of the season on April 22nd & 23rd. Whilst the preseason testing has come to an end, the CarStore PowerMax racing team are fine tuning their machinery ahead of going to battle with the nations best race drivers. New for the 2023 season will be the SuperCell365 branding on Taylor-Smiths race car that will be seen live on ITV throughout the championship. The championship is widely regarded as the nations most widely followed motorsport championship and in 2022 accumulated over nineteen million viewers.
